GOLDIE PIC

Hiya All

Thought you might like to see 2 of my goldfinches feeding today.  There was about 12 but as soon as I got anywhere near with my camera the rest buzzed off and sat and watched me from the trees. I waited for ages but they would not return in numbers - awkward little devils!! I am sure they were laughing at me!

Do you think I could do a Seymouraves and ask what the bird in the botton left hand corner is?  Ha ha ha   only joking!!

Sorry the pictures isn't too good.  I had a little Kodak camera only 4 mp which took great pictures and then it died so I bought one with 12 mp and I can't seem to be able to take a decent photo at all - very hit and miss, but will keep trying.

You have no control over what life & people throw at you - but you have full control over how you deal with it!

  • Looks like you had a nice sunny day.  Nice picture even if not close up.  My three goldies came much later today, but did visit twice.  I did get a picture but it was much worse than your as it was very dull and the flash scared them away,  They did come back, but did not want to scare them again so gave up.

Hope you find your camera easier to use in time.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

  • Hi Chez

Love your Goldfinches and as your feeders show, Finches are a beautiful bird to have around

Great pictures and it does not matter what your camera is ...it is what you do with it that counts.

Yes, there is always an escapee artist... as you have on the bottom left hand side of your picture.

Hope that your camera is still working at the moment.

Thank you for sharing your pictures.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Hi Chez

Can't see what all the excitement is all about really, I mean it's just a bird !  (joke)

    Don't have these, that's why I'm grumpy...............and okay sort of alright shots !  :-)

  • Hi Chez,

Your photo is lovely, and the little image in the bottom left looks like a garden fairy having a peep at your goldies. It has pee'd down all day here, but my 4 current goldies have been much of the day, soggy wet and miserable. A bit like me and hubby after our dog walk.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Grumpy!!

The other two feeders were full an hour before the photo, but the rooks get above them and shake them to bits and all the seed falls out, or the one on the right was full of home made fat ball stuff, which is not as hard as the bought ones and it falls apart quicker - crafty so and so's really - I have wired them on so tight (the feeders I mean - not the rooks!!) but they still manage to pinch it all very quickly. I have to ration topping them up to twice a day.  The niger seed I have to fill up daily too 'cos I have sooooo many goldfinches, chaffinches and greenfinches eating it all  (Yes I am boasting - just to get you going!!) LOL

Seriously though I do count my blessings daily as I do live in an area where there are lots of birds and I get so much pleasure from just watching their antics, Some I want to tell off and tell them there is enough food to go around so stop squabbling!!  Just like naughty children!

  • Hi Chez, fiddly dee! well I'm just soooo pleased you get soooo many Goldfinches, that's really made my day and especially as you have to fill the niger seed sooooo many times per day!!  I have a garden that has noooot soooo many Goldfinches but I do get some other little cuties, I've got 14 Chaffs (uhuh!), blue tits, great tits and I got me some 20 odd Collard Doves (yep!) AND...AND  Robins (2) and Greenfinches, and Feral Pigeons (ner!) and 7 Wood Pigeons  and and and oh there's the Starlings (wa-hey!), wrens (sweethearts), numerous sparrows......................and a frog!

    Da da.....diddly dee!

Good on you, your'e like me, it's a pleasure to sit and watch the garden - I can only feed once a day during the week because of work but at weekends I go into overdrive and fill up whenever I see an empty spot! :-)
