Hi Seymouraves, I like the images. I presume that's a male crossbill coming down for a drink in a woodland puddle? I've seen (I've only recently got into birding) quite a few crossbills in Hampshire mixed woodland/heathland habitats and enjoy standing under trees getting hit by pine cones. However, I've only observed them in the spring and have had no luck at other times. Is that not your experience? Best, Mark
Hi- I tend to see Xbills mainly between November and March because that's when I do my woodland birding- mainly at Lynford Arboretum, Sculthorpe etc.
:)
Hi- one of those days today when the 'good' birds were miles away, and the normal birds were close up.
Thats a great pose on the Dunnock.
Best wishes

I was leaning into a bramble hedge aiming the Lumix through a tangle of branches at the bird about 10 feet away.

I was pishing- getting in some practise ready for my US trip next month:
I had pulled in a flock of Robins, Blue Tits and gold/green/chaffinches and the Dunnocks sneaked up behind me and were at a better angle :)
