We have just booked a week in a cottage on the wonderful Ardamurchan peninsular in early May and wondered if anyone had any info on the area.It is over 40 years since I did any birding in this area of Scotland so any up to date info would be welcome.I will still be struggling a little healthwise by then but getting more mobile and should be able some easier wanders into the hills. Our target birds will be both species of Eagle and Divers but as usual all will be welcome !!

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Sounds lovely, Pete. I think the peace and quiet will do you a power of good.
I have not been up there recently but perhaps this link will have some useful information - you might also manage a day trip to Mull!

I went last summer, it was brilliant. Was hoping to see Wildcat (we didn't). Found White-tailed Eagle near Sanna Bay. No Goldies but we didn't try particularly hard - apparently both eagle spp. overfly the Nadurra wildlife centre every day (www.nadurracentre.co.uk). The ferry crossing from Kilchoan to Mull was good for seabirds even though it's very short, nice views of Manxies. My blog posts about the trip are here: mazzaswildside.blogspot.co.uk/.../ardnamurchan.html and here: mazzaswildside.blogspot.co.uk/.../some-ardnamurchan-leftovers.html

Forgot about your visit Aiki, thanks for the link.It will be interesting as one of our party is very much a "rookie" sort of an enforced exile from hill walking,it will be great fun showing her stuff and renewing old spots for me and Chris.
