A beautiful afternoon at Trimley Marshes!

As if going to Felixstowe Ferry wasn't enough for one day I then spent some time with Limpy at Trimley Marshes!  It was such a beautiful afternoon and there were some interesting birds about.  These two crows drew our attention to an interesting bird sitting on a nearby fence post:

Is that a buzzard they're attempting to intimidate?

Incoming lapwing.

A neat landing!

A short while later the lapwings all spooked at once:

What a great sight!  I even managed to catch a few of them coming in to land afterwards:

The afternoon light looked lovely on this wigeon.

Well, they all did, really!

It's not a great photo but did I actually get a buzzard?

A harrier, but which one?

Shelducks and lapwings looking beautiful in the sunlight.

A scenic shot of the reserve.

A lurking grey heron.

A last lapwing shot - it looked so beautiful in the sunlight I had to include it!

Enjoy, as always.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Thanks, Bob. I'm delighted to have seen a buzzard - I don't see them very often, much less photograph them (however badly!).  I'm really impressed you spotted a starling and golden plovers in all that lot - I certainly didn't!
