I adventured out to the East of the Island today - had some errands to run and it provided a perfect excuse to go and watch waders for a little bit. La Rocque is a tiny little harbour - it has a few major advantages for birders - There is a short harbour wall with excellent views either side of lots of roosting rocks, plenty of different migrant waders love it - huge tidal range, an excellent little mobile cafe, toilets, benches to sit on, on a really good bus route Disadvantages - it can be a bit exposed, huge tidal range, the cafe was shut, you have to use the car as a hide.

That looks like a lovely little place, Caroline - your herring gull looks quite chilled out and your rock pipit and wagtail are lovely.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi Caroline. Lovely photos. Looks like a really nice place to spend a few hours although I imagine it could be quite wild at times. Love the Rock Pippit and I think it may be a Black Guillimot but I could be wrong.
