Limpy wasn't feeling great this morning so he didn't want to go too far afield - I had the bright idea of taking him to the Flatford Wildlife Garden. On arrival, though, we learned that it opens only from April to October! We headed straight for the National Trust tea rooms for a nice hot cuppa and then had a look to see what was about on the river.
I can never get enough of snapping these beautiful, elegant birds! I did eventually get distracted by the sound of some energetic splashing:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Thanks, Alan - as you will probably notice I've added more of the mallard.
We took a walk along the riverbank as we could see plenty of birds flying between the trees. I saw an unfamiliar bird in one tree:
I think it might be a fieldfare - I'm not very familiar with these as they don't visit our garden.
I don't think this is a fieldfare - a thrush?
A very fluffed-up wood pigeon!
Another of my favourite birds - two beautiful goldfinches.
Female blackbird.
On our way back to the car park we saw the inevitable crowd which tends to accompany people who offer food!
The final treat came in the car park - we could hear a bird singing away but it took a while to find it. We eventually managed it, though:
Isn't he gorgeous?
That's all of them - hope you all enjoy!
Hi Clare. Lovely images. Could watch Swans all day long. I believe you're correct in thinking your bird is a Fieldfare (second bird is also a Fieldfare...I think). Great captures... and who couldn't love a Robin?

CLARE - lovely photos, as usual. Thanks for sharing!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Just shows there's always something to see if you care to look. Lovely pics Clare, and the robin is a smasher.
Lot to learn
Nice photos Clare, we have often walked from Dedham along the river path to Flatford a good place for Kingfishers but we have only done this walk in the summer/autumn

Really lovely photos Clare, the Swans and Cygnets are gorgeous and the 2nd set of photos are brilliant too. Love the Geese, ducks eagerly awaiting some tit-bits lol
I do hope Limpy is feeling better today, best regards to you both.

Lovely photos, Clare. Swans make such good subects don't they. The Robin was in good voice by the look of it and I always lovely to hear their bubbling song.

I'm watching you.
And I'm singing to you.
