Determined to see some Waxwings this year, would be a first for me. Seeking advice on where to go and the best time of the year? I have heard that they can be numerous around here.
Fingers crossed,
Peter.

Hi Peter, I think there are a few already trickling in with the current weather system. As for locations, well anywhere is possible, anywhere with berry or fruiting trees that is! Keep an eye out on Birdguide updates or local birding blogs for local knowledge.

HI
I would suggest looking at the Birding Lothian website - they have reported one or two already www.birdinglothian.co.uk
see my photos on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/maggyn/
I'm hoping to see some waxwings too, as I missed them last year :(
Cheers, Jason
Many thanks Maggy, great site now on my fav's.
I'm hoping to see Waxwings as well! I'm a bit further North in Angus :)

It's luck of the draw really. If we get another winter Waxwing invasion they can turn up anywhere. Having been birding for a terrifying number of years I saw my first Waxwings 3 years ago. They even showed up in my garden a few weeks later (so it was a pity I was 30 miles away at the time).
Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
