Quick visit to feed the birds in Hyde Park.

The wife and I spent the morning in London checking out the route to Royal Brompton Hospital and what car parking is like near the hospital prior to our gandsons admittance for his heart operation in the next two months. It was an easy journey there but that was expected on a Sunday morning but parking was a different thing well guess the savings will take a battering as it was £4.50 an hour in the nearest public carpark Monday to Saturday, and wee Edward will be in hospital for at least two weeks. Once we had checked the place out we shot over to Hyde Park which was only minutes away and went to the same spot we visited last time to hand feed the birds and were not let down by the friendly bird life again.

"OK I will show off my good side for just one pic."

"Hey You I said ONE pic"

Robin on my wifes hand.

Ring-necked Parakeet on my hand I could only just get the camera to focuas as it was so close, we also had Blue Tits, Great Tits and Feral Pigeons coming to the hand.

  • Wow, Shane - lovely pictures!  Sadly, I'm only ever been in this part of London for protest marches, not the birdlife - I must sort that out.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hello Shane,  looks like you had a good visit to Hyde Park and the photos were lovely, always a thrill to have the birds land on your hand for feeding :)

Sorry to hear young Edward needs a heart operation but I wish him all the best and hope it won't be long before he is joining his Grandparents for a spot of bird watching and feeding the Robins and Parakeets in Hyde Park :)   good luck.

  • Shane, So sorry to hear young Edward needs a heart op--do you have a date for it?  Would just like to join the other forum-ites in wishing all the best for him and his parents and you and your wife.

Thanks for the lovely photos of birds in Hyde Park--we must go there sometime!  It is such a thrill to have a wild creature choose to take food from your hand--I was amazed to see similar photos from the visit there earlier this year by Hazel, her hubby, MC and Aiki.  A friend of ours loves the Ring-necked Parakeets because they remind her of India and her heritage, and we hope to give her a framed photo as her Christmas present, especially one hanging upside down.

    Kind regards, Ann
