How wonderful, we have visited Bassenthwaite in the Northern Lakes many times and seen the Ospreys from Doddwood area. It's such a pleasure and I'm so glad you got great views of them.
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
Sounds wonderful, Yorkie :-)
If you saw 3 ospreys at Esthwaite, that suggests the pair there have bred successfully, too, which is excellent news - I'm fairly sure they failed last year, but information about that nest is generally sparse.
There was definitely 3 different birds as they were all in the air over the lake at the same time, all looked to have adult plumage. I didnt even realise Esthwaite has its own Osprey's, I thought they were confined to Bassenthwaite or ones just passing through. Certainly a fantastic sight though and made our trip to the lake District even more special.
