A friend and I are planning a visit to Bempton one day next week, and I wondered if anyone could tell me how far it is to walk along the cliff tops from Bempton to Flamborough Head? The plan is to walk from Bempton to Flamborough Head, have lunch there, then walk back in the afternoon and spend a couple of hours at Bempton when we get back. We are quite good walkersbut I am just not sure how far the walk would be and whether we are being a little too ambitious or not. Thanks in advance for any information!

Hi Christine, last year I walked from Bempton to Flamborough. I think it took a couple of hours at a leisurely stroll. I didn't walk back to Bempton as there's a few good pubs in Flamborough and then I got the bus to Bridlington. But its a good walk though :)
Cheers, Jason
Thanks for the info Jason - a couple of hours leisurely stroll each way sounds do-able! Can't fault you for trying the pubs in Flamborough! It's just that we'll need to get back to Bempton to collect the car.
Very doable at an easy bird walking pace,we did it 4 or 5 times a year before I started chemo treatment. The Puffins are often easier to see at the Flamborough end as the birds seem to sit in the caves in the cliffs.Smashing walk enjoy it,watch the cliff top fields as well as the cliff, good stuff such as Corn Bunting along there. You can get tea and buns if the pub is a no no for drivers.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Thanks for that Seaman - I am sure a nice cream tea in Flamborough would give us energy for the walk back....! I'm really looking forward to it now and will look out for puffins in the caves at the Flamborough end. I've not seen a corn bunting yet so will keep an eye out on the fields too.
I hope you're coping ok with the chemo and progressing in the right direction. Thanks for taking the trouble to post.

Going well at the moment thanks Christine,MrsS keeps forcing me into the car and dragging me off to do horrid things like bird watching !!
Good for Mrs S!! I'm glad to hear you're managing to get out and about again - bird watching is so addictive isn't it? Bet you really missed it for a while.
