I know a few of us do the BTO Gardenwatch bird count each week, and I thought I would share my count for this week, ending yesterday.
That's 17 species in all. The most notable change is the reduction in numbers of goldfinches. I think Brenda has all mine now! Sparrows and starlings are a best guess.
Has anyone else done their count? Perhaps we could compare them?
Cheers, Linda.

I know how you feel. Having been at Uni all day today there was much to see before I left and only a lonely robin when I returned.
The Sparrows must have been back in force though as their feeder was empty.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Hi Sparrow, as you know, you will start having days like today. The birds will start finding mates. The fields are now being turned over, providing juicy wormsetc, natural food and some of the birds who migrated here will be heading back home. Things will settle down and you will get to know your real residents and hopefully some who are nesting in your garden. If you went on one of your walks, I bet you will see plenty of birds.
Hi Brenda,
I know you are right, and I shouldn't complain as I have some lovely true regulars, notably my sparrows and dunnocks, jackdaws and starlings, collared doves and blackbirds. Then there is Bluey, my rooster, although it is beginning to look like he won't be nesting in the box as his mate has retired from cleaning it out.
We have a long walk every day and I do see a lot of birds, squirrels, bunnies and ducks. I am waiting now for the ducklings. We watched a family last year, from just after they hatched until they had grown. It was wonderful, although 12 ducklings ended up as 8, which was sad.
