Did my Beached Bird Survey at Montrose beach today and I am now cream crackered! And so is the dog who was running around like a maniac as per usual. No dead birds but plenty of living ones, mainly oystercatchers and various gulls but also a gannet, skylarks, some kind of duck flying in the distance (probably eider), pinkfooted geese, some kined of finch, crows and last but not least a buzzard!
Didn't take my camera otherwise I'd be too busy taking photos to get on with what I wasx supposed to be doing, but it was still as good 3 hour walk!

Hi Kat, Well thats good news ( no dead birds ), thats not such good news ( your crackered ). I bet it was quite bracing out on the beach today brrrrrr.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
Actually the weather was GLORIOUS, I'd gone out well-wrapped and it was roasting, seaside weather! I almost needed suncream on lol
Kat genuinely amazed and full of admiration for all the things connected with wildlife you do.
Hi Kat
Wow Montrose now that brings it all back. Stayed in Brechin for a while. Great place to go for any type of survey of birds other wildlife. Glad to hear it was free of any Beached animals
The Montrose Basin has an interesting history of the tidal times. It is an unusal waterway. There have been Dolphins seen near the Lighthouse {bay}
Remember visiting the Wildlife Centre there many a time, and seeing great birds for miles over the waterways. Of course as well as the well established 'Sand Martin' colony that is situated there.
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Sounds a terrific day Kat. I have got to admit I do enjoy walking along the shore as long as I am aptly dressed, although I have suffered from a case of wind burn a few times. Did you make the cakes before or after your 3 hour walk?

LOL - I think she was thinking more about making cream crackers!
Kat - Sounds like you had an enjoyable day with plenty of goodies to see.
Cheers, Linda.
