My lovely son has asked me to go to Scotland with him to see golden eagles where do we head for? My lad is a falconer by trade and it has been his dream since he was a little boy to see eagles in Scotland. We're thinking of basing ourselves on the island of Skye for the week but would love some ideas of where else we could stay if we wanted to see eagles.
Many thanks.
That trip sounds wonderful! It'll be great to see eagles in the wild! Hope you find a location!
Cheers, Jason
Mull could be good also the Ardnamurchan Peninsular but of course they are still comparatively rare, enjoy your trip it is all top country

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Hope you have a lovely time. The Skye Birds website is great - it may help you http://www.skye-birds.com/

If you can afford the time I would add in a few days on North and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Both Eagles are readily viewable there and of course you get corncrake (not much interest to a falconer though)

He'd love to see a corncrake, he loves all birds but BOPs are his passion.
Well, our trip is on. Flights are booked which saves us (me) an 11 hour drive up there, car hire is booked and accommodation is booked. I must say, I am REALLY looking forward to the trip.
It would be a very long drive for you so flying does seem a good option.Skye is a fantastic spot both for raptors and fantastic mountain scenery, had some of our best mountain days there as well as some great eagle watching.Enjoy your trip and look forward to your report.
