Pagham Harbour

Good day out on Saturday - I got there in time tojoin a very pleasent guided walk (a million apologies, the name of the excellent ex-navy guy escapes me). There wasn't a great deal around, lots of Sedge Warblers, Reed Buntings (and Warblers) and a trio of raptors, Kestrels, Buzzards and a Peregrine. The absolute highlight was seeing a Cuckoo - haven't seen one since I was a kid.

No Little Terns in sight on the shingle, but some Whimbrel, Oystercatchers and a few Dunlin in breeding plumage. At one stage there was a three-way dogfight as the nesting lapwings attacked the crows and the crows mobbed the buzzards.

Here's a few of the more cooperative birds...

Sedge Warbler

Linnet

Finally, the cuckoo. It was miles away, but I don't care, I was so pleased to see one. We also saw it in flight and heard it calling.
