We had to go over into Nidderdale this afternoon to visit my sister and Mrs S drove over on the "pretty" route over Dallowgill Moor. This gave me a chance to have a look at my favourite moors even if it meant staying fairly close to the car.Got some nice views of Meadow Pipits,Red Grouse, displaying Lapwing and a distant Red Kite.A local keeper told us he had heard Cuckoo in the area and not long after he had left us Chris spotted one sat on a wall corner in its typical droopy wing stance. It did not stay long as the local Pipits were mobbing it to deter it from using their nests. It was great to get out on the moor, the air seemed different, the sun was warn and the heather was just getting a little bit of colour. Now we have made the effort I hope to be back up there again soon.
