Went off to Gateshead on Sunday, expecting to see nothing, it was so windy. What a surprise, we watched 2 kingfishers for over 3 hours, mating, fishing and lurking in an oak tree. Jays, wrens collecting nesting materials, goldfinches, greenfinches, tits of all varieties, chiffchaffs, woodpecker, a wonderful day
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
What lovely photos, Judi. Great to get shots of both the female and male Kingfishers. All I've seen of them recently has been a blue flash with no chance of photos.
Mrs Mallard looks very proud but protective of her brood.

Fabulous Judi - another person for me to be jealous of! I can't find a kingfisher for trying - even been over to doggie's patch and failed!! Beautiful photo and the one of all the mallard chicks is just gorgeous!

Lovely photos Judi, that kingfisher is fantastic. Love the babes too, and the finches are so clear, the great tit is nice to see, we only get a couple in the garden, mostly blueies here, but still have a few robins bobbing about.
Lot to learn
Wow Judi, these are stunning photos, love them all especially Kingfisher and the ducklings following Momma LOL
