While Jason was away I invaded his territory and having viewed the reservoirs from the main road in passing for over 30 years made an effort to have a proper look and was captivated by the place. It was a lovely day for it and i walked for 3 and a half hours! must admit I did not see much bird life as I kept away from the feeder areas but I can go back for them.
So here are some views and a couple of birds etc from the wild side.
I messed up photo of reed buntings but did get the Mistle thrush
and the meadow pipit
could not get away from the pheasants
and when I got home to rest my weary knees I had a visit from my first siskin
all in all a lovely day off

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
if you like wild I only went about one third of the way up the moor!
it is incredibly natural though and devoid of traffic, people noise just nature I really loved the experience and its not as if it is hours of travel away from 'civilisation'
Hi Andy! I have just caught up with this thread. When you posted it on the 11th, I'd have been in the beginning of my gruelling 7 days on at work and working 10hrs over the weekend! Get your violin out! Then I had noticed my tax disc on my car and MOT ran out, oops, so had to sort that out!
Lovely pics of Dovestones! It is such a pieceful and tranquil place and there's plenty of walks around there. There's a Kestrel around there too and I did see it once, but rubbish photos!
I agree there's not many birds away from the feeders, I wonder why that is? But by the feeders you can see a pretty good selection.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers, Jason
