I got a new camera a few weeks ago (Canon EOS 250D) and today got a new 55-250mm lens. Well when I say new lens, I mean a 2nd hand one from EBay. Now I just need to do a lot of experimenting to see what the best settings are for good pictures. First few tries are attached.
Not posted anything for a wee while, but I seen this in the garden today, and it's a first for me. I think it's a linnet, would I be correct?

When I first caught a glimpse of it it was in a tree with red flowers so I just thought it was a female chaffinch and the red flashes were just the flowers, then I saw it on the feeder and dived for the camera. This is my first ever lesser redpoll. I've been sitting outside in the sun and amazed at how the birds ignore you after a few minutes if you are quiet and still. It does mean you can get better pictures without the window glass getting in the way, and you can get a lot closer than if you are in the house.
I noticed this today just sitting in the sun at the bottom of a bush. I assume it's a fledgling/young blackbird. I eventually went over to put some water near to it, and it disappeared into the bush. I wasn't sure if it flew off or not, but several other birds scattered when I got near the bush.
