From a distance what I thought were a few hares in the field I realised as I got closer the hares had turned into Roe deer,

You certainly managed to get a good selection of species and photos ILR, Blacktoft Sands is still on our to visit list which is getting longer ! The lone Lapwing is not alone........... there's a snipe keeping it company !

Hi Hazel I noticed it after I posted. If you do go and the lakes get flooded there are not so many waders about. Before you go there I would try and ring them first to ensure there is plenty to see, and the paths are not flooded. The deer were a bonus but they were a distance away. I can’t guarantee you will see a grass snake either. I was lucky to see one a couple of weeks ago. Thanks Hazel and thanks for viewing.
Thanks for the helpful info ILR; as you say, sightings can vary but it was fantastic when you saw the grass snake; I've seen lots of snakes overseas (deadly ones ! ) but never seen a grass snake or even an adder !

Thanks PB There were a few little grebes about and Teal and shovelers with the odd Snipe but the highlight for me was the Deer and I saw one the time before as well, they were a long way away but lovely to see regardless. No cormorants for you PB I didn’t see one.
