Hi Jan and welcome to the community forum.
I saw some Swifts in the skies around Gran Canaria last week but we don't get them here in West Lancashire.
Our House Martins have arrived though, much to my delight :)
Cheers
Pipit
Saw my first on Sunday - usually get them earlier but I have been lazy and not going out to look on clear evenings... here he is :)

Thank you Pip :) But I'm now on a mission (yet another one) to get better Swift pics this year!

You can even see the pale bib - must've been really close!

Seriously thinking about trying harder!

Hello .Neighbour spotted a few at work - SW BRADFORD.Expecting ours this weekend - BIRSTALL/LEEDS.They have used same nesting site for as long as I can remember and its always well into May.If weather forecast accurate, plenty of food will be buzzing about; the swifts will be happy and so will my gooseberries.
UPDATE...First half-dozen arrived dinnertime today 6/5/11. They never let me down and I am well pleased to see them safely here.

Hi aiki
That's a nice shot. They are always too fast for me.
They`re here.Much joy in our house.
The three counted over our house on 1st May is now at least 11.
Feeding like the clappers and occasionally screaming at each other.
They're still gathering!
