Hi Jan and welcome,
I haven't seen any here in south-west England yet, but I'm looking every day. They are my favourite summer birds.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Thanks,
It is my favourite, too.
:)

Hi Jan,
I hear they are already arriving in the UK (early), but we have none yet where I live (SW London suburbs).
Ours usually arrive 1st or 2nd May, so if they have all started back early, they could be here any day now.
Can't wait to hear the screams!!
:-)

Seriously thinking about trying harder!
Had a couple up here in North Yorkshire yesterday but they were high up and not stopping around.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Just had an e-mail from the Swift Conservation people to say that ten have been seen today in the London area and travelling north. So watch the skies - they are on their way!

I first saw swifts overhead in NE London this morning (Stoke Newington reservoirs) - only a few so far, and no screams. Summer is here at last!

Hi Jan
Just got back from Lesvos, Greece. Saw many common, some alpine and a few pallid swift there. Haven't seen any yet here in the UK.

Hi PatC and welcome.
They're on their way then! None down here in Somerset as yet, but it's cool, overcast and windy, so I don't blame them.
Hi all,
The first of our local swifts, three of them, arrived late this afternoon - right on cue - 1st May!
Looking forward to a fair few more, if enough of them make it.
Hi everyone, isn't it a bit late now? I usually see Swifts much earlier than this.. I've only seen one this year in North Yorkshire near Malton, disappointed because I really do love Swifts.
I love Columbidae.
