Sparrows!

I now have sparrows using my hanging caged feeder in the cherry tree (the feeder I moved to discourage the starlings). Starlings still use it but not as much as it swings in the tree, but I had 3 sparrows on it at one time,a record for any bird in my garden!!

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

  • Sparrow, brilliant sequence of photo's again. Maybe it is the lack of sparrows/ starlings, but our birdbath is not used as frequently as yours, except for drinking.

Al, your caption is so apt and funny.

  • Brenda H. Yes, I only allow the better type of Great tit on my property!!!

I must admit I thought it was pretty amazing when I realised how they had utilised the boxes.

Sparrow, thank you so much, I thoroughly enjoyed all the photos and, of course, can return to look at them again and again. The little one 'learning to swim' is a beauty.

Al.....you have done it again, your caption fits the sparrows expression exactly, you are so funny.

    Kind regards Jane.

  • Hi Madpenguin,

congratulations on your Sparrows - I hope you get plenty more :o)

Sparrow - lovely photos, as usual!

I have a colony of somewhere over 30 House Sparrows, I say around as they don't keep still long enough and have never obliged by lining up on the lawn for a head count!  They're of various as they have been around for a numbers of years.  Although this afternoon I saw two new additions being fed by mom :o)
