Is it ok to feed dried meal worms in the breeding season.
Because of the lack of moisture could it be a bad food for chicks and possibly lead to dehydration ?
Advice is to soak them at this time of year for the reasons you mentioned.

Yes I do the same soak them for a few minutes in warm water. I do the same with raisins this time of year

Yeh its best to soak them in water at this time of year for the reasons you said. Its also a good idea to put them in little hidden areas like under bushes and between flowers this will stop the bigger birds from gobbaling them up straight away and lets the other little birds have a chance its also really nice to see them hoping around looking for them.
