A charm of Greenfinches

Thank you SunnyKate2. I’m new to this site so I’m not sure how to do the photos. The last one I put on I just edited my response and the option to attach a photo was there. I’ll give that a go now. :)

I googled and came up with this.

"In the winter they group together to form flocks of up to about 40 birds, occasionally more. A flock of Goldfinches is called a charm. Many UK goldfinches migrate as far south as Spain."

Thanks SunnyKate2. Yes I saw that about goldfinches but these are Greenfinches, although I expect they do the same? There was way more than 40 too which is what really surprised me, particularly as the local farmer said he has not seen any Greenfinches for years here. It could be as a result of the farmer introducing Sunflowers as a crop this year for the first time.

but i did read elsewhere, that GREENFINCHES were in decline due to disease,(linked to trichomonosis, a parasite-induced disease) and are slowly returning,and prefer sunflower seeds, so your Farmer may well have provided them with a good source of food,always amazes me how wildlife telegraph each other.
