I'm hedging my bets on it's identity (tricky these small caterpillars) but it could also be a Painted Lady IMHO

I contacted the local authority and they said it is invading our whole city. They said that they will come and spray them with insecticide, the scene was pretty scary

I wanted to mention they are on my plants and they are eating them, this got me panicked. I bought some spray and sprayed them with it, some of them are dead now but I feel guilty now as I red your post. Are you quite sure about them being harmless? I searched google and saw horrible pictures of allergies caused by them. The possobility of them inducing asthma was also in.

Some caterpillars, such as the Processionary moths can cause horrible reactions & I have suffered reactions myself to them, but these are HARMLESS caterpillars of beautiful butterflies & do no harm at all. Please don't eradicate anything until you are sure it may damage your health. These won't !! I don't kill anything, not even wasps nests if they don't bother me!

The one I was trying to think of was ermine moth which create huge sprawling wispy nets full of larvae, there was an irruption reported several years ago in UK ... but having read that you are not in this country then cannot comment further!

To be honest I'm gutted! Please remove all the dead bodies Srusht to prevent them being eaten by birds, hedgehogs etc & causing more deaths.
Whatever happened to live & let live.
