I can't believe it's over a month since Mrs PB and I ventured to Slimbridge... it's true what they say, as you get older the time just vanishes!
Anyhow, enough middle aged doom and gloom, I've kept this trip to mostly the wild birds.
Straight outside the entrance... fluffy-wuffy loveliness
And less fluffy-wuffy
And not even slightly fluffy-wuffy!
And.... back to fluffy-wuffy
Hissy fit
Old red-eye
Preparing for the next generation
The bill always looks waxy to me!
Not sure if it's luvvin or fightin!
Could be in a different thread!
The elusive Mrs Blackcap
Definite hint of "autumn sunset" there!
The sunlight started getting a bit harsh... Mr Chaffinch
Green Veined White
A Robin, "giving it some" is the technical term I believe
Mr Blackcap... almost as elusive as his missus!!
Female Orange Tip... finally settled!
Little Egret (in the aviary, so not strictly speaking wild
And the Flamingo wasn't wild..... it was livid (thank you to Not The Nine o' Clock News there!)
Holly Blue, almost tempting me to fall in the lake as I followed it!
One of the breeding Cranes, unfortunately from a poor position in the hide
Chiffchaff I think
Alderfly?
One of the other breeding Cranes
Gooselets
Cootlet
Despite being teeny-weeny, it still has HUGE feet!
Thanks for looking :o)
A superb collection of photos PB, and it looks like the sun shone perfectly for you.
I had to chuckle when you mentioned Not The Nine O'Clock News, my mind turned to Manfred Mann's 1966 hit, Pretty Flamingo. Gawd I feel old, two chart hits from '66, and I was a school kid back then....
I think it was Gerald the gorilla who was wild.....
Whatever, a superb collection of photos and a pleasure to view.

Thanks Mike, I think that was the last day the sun shone for more than 20 minutes lol

Nice set, must admit I miss having that place as a go to reserve with its 9 hides.
Thanks all.... Mrs PB finds all the hides a bit boring so we usually only do 4 or 5, Bob.... But always kingfisher just in case
Great selection of photo's PB. Well done with the Blackcaps, I have seen quite a few male, not one female... You found plenty to photograph, I have never made it to Slimbridge.
Thanks Snappy, certainly worth a visit if you're heading west. I haven't included any of the "collection" birds, but that would easily be another 2-300 pics.

yes, you can't afford the risk of mussing out there.
