Haven’t seen female blackcaps yet but some males around the woods.
More and better Blackcap sightings.
A short clip of the male Blackcap singing away.

Some more Blackcap sightings including the elusive female from a fair distance.
The Merlin bird song app tells me there are blackcap in my local wood but I never see them. Any advice on how to spot them?
The male is normally perched somewhere singing away. The female is a bit more elusive and harder to spot. If you find the male you may also be able to come across the female.
I’ll keep looking, hopefully before the leaves are all out because then I’ll have no chance. I’m not good at recognising the individual songs and with everything singing right now it’s hard to know in which direction to look. Thanks for the tip though.
Yes quite. Sometimes you may think it’s a Robin singing but it can be a Blackcap. Generally they are quite loud when singing.
managed to find a female in the middle of a scrubby bit at the back of the woods. This is as good as I could capture.
Blackcaps seem to be teamed up now. Managed a few more photos.
