It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Just need them to have followed me home now lol

Do you have any sunshine yet Linda?

Intermittent sunshine now am home..was drizzle this morning when we left
Good spotting and well done for getting a Grayling with it's wings open - and she's off everyone - now needs some decent weather to try and catch up. BTW I saw a cracking female Emperor moth photo taken up in Dingwall the other day so there is still hope

Thanks C. a thi k the weather is for 1 day only that's why we headed to the coast ..oh my OH has family in Dingwall..not that we have ever been to visit..think our next visit will be to Rothsey as never been ..slowly work our way to Mull eventually lol
If you're alright on a boat, Linda, when you go to Mull try to pre-book the bird boat from Ulva Ferry... I think it's Mull Charters. Supposed to be fabulous.... Clare and Limpy went I think, and there's a post about it
EDIT: Clare's Post
Cool thanks PB..just need to leave OH ashore lol he's alright with short crossings but he wasn't good at Farne Islands boat trip
Your 2nd Red Admiral pic is really stunning (I mean, they're ALL stunning but I like that one especially).
Sad to say we are barely seeing any butterflies in our garden currently - was hoping to have a few more visit whilst the Big Butterfly Count is on but no such luck as yet. The constantly changing weather is probably not helping. Have seen a couple of these but not much else:
