Lovely Pics. Don't think they come down this far Down in the southwest.

They made it as far as East Kent many years back during an irruption, remember standing in the freezing cold with scarcely enough life in fingers to press the shutter!

Fantastic pics as usual, Bob. They are being seen in large flocks of up to 100 birds up here for the past couple of weeks. So may be heading south soon.

Your comment reminds of a winter's evening capturing a starling gathering (and the ensuing murmurartions). It is surprising how quick the air temperature cap drop at times.

The toes were also affected,

And trying to stop shivering when using a slow shutter speed is contrary to basic human physiology.

Seem to be a bit earlier than usual, especially in the numbers we are seeing them here in the northeast.

After seeing your fabulous photos Bob a went out the day in search of some...none to be found on my patch this time but thanks for sharing yours ;-)

If you look on the Highland Birds website you might find some nearer to you CL. The nearest I can see to you is Helmsdale but there are plenty around, Now reportng groups of 500! I haven't seen any this year yet but I still have some berries and apples on my tree.
