Butterflies and Moths 2023

I don't often get a chance to photograph Wall Butterflies as they are usually far too busy patrolling their patches to be bothered to settle for a quick pic but managed this one

I  think this might be a partial 3rd Gen of Small Copper - so feisty and fierce

Jersey Tiger on Hemp Agrimony - this patch was full of pollinators 

I went looking for some more butterflies. I was hoping to get a closer look at the Brown Angus. Here are a few from fine combing a large meadow near me. Not only Brown Angus. To be fair I didn’t know half of the butterflies I’ve photographed this year even existed, it’s been quite an educational summer. So I am pretty chuffed with my captures this year. 

Hi Germain, good pictures of the Wall Butterfly. I have not seen one yet, they look similar to the Fritillary and those have eluded me as well....

Excellent Cin! I've never been lucky enough to see a Wall butterfly or a Jersey Tiger moth, but we live in hope ... 

Hey Mr Kes, not sure if it's auto correct, or not, but it is brown argus, not angus (he takes photos around a newly forming nature reserve ;o) )

Some lovely shots there... especially like the Brimstone.
How long did it take to comb a whole field?? lol

Nice set, Cin, I've been low on Wall and Small Coppers this year... in fact I've seen more Jersey Tigers than both combined!!

Lol yes sorry Argus. I will start looking earlier next year. I think I would have seen more white admiral and painted ladies.

Yeah, been a funny year.. I've only seen a couple of Painted Ladies, but was guided to a prime spot for White Admirals and saw dozens in one visit, my 1st ever. The Brown Argus are on the wing til mid September and beyond so still time this year if you can find the right habitat :o)
