Starting off 2023 list already! 7 Winter moths - Operophtera brumata around the front door

Not sure what I will find this year as I will be possibly be doing more travelling in the UK

I don’t know if that is why or not. But they (are) sensitive to things like temperature and climate. Seeing some butterflys are better than not seeing any Butterflys around at all though even if they arnt very variable species wise in your area at the moment
I also saw a Box tree moth in the garden again like last year Iv seen it in the garden 2 days in a row now the first day it was on the Hornbeam tree and today it was on my Buddlea Butterfly Bush shrub
Iv had a lot of moth caterpillars since Spring but didn’t spot a Box tree moth caterpillar. Im mainly getting hiverfly larvae now rather than Butterfly and moth caterpillars. Weather the Tortrix moths in the garden came from the tortrix moth caterpillars in the garden is hard to know cause I didn’t get to see the transformation and I don’t know if the vine rustic caterpillar has successfully transformed or not either. It could be this box tree moth came from the local area again like last year
