This spell of fine weather is certainly bringing out the insects and lovely set of photos ILR, as you say amazing what is on our doorstep if we look closely. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely photos ILR, and what seemed a lovely walk.

I can't help you with the moth, but your fly is likely to be a green bottle fly, or its collective name, blow fly.

Thank you Mike the second moth was really tiny, smaller than a drawing pin and it was just a short walk I was pleased to have found something to photograph locally.

Thank you a Gaynor, it’s like entering another world of wonderment when your looking for something new to photograph and that’s wildlife in general you never. Know what is around the corner and when you see something different it’s another first and can’t wait to see what is going to be next.

Hi PB and a big welcome to Sunny Yorkshire, Nettle Tap and I think your right this is the one I originally thought it was too. This is the description in my book
Widespread and common on rough ground and in hedges and gardens flies May-September. larva feeds on common Nettle. I saw this one in a hedge on a leaf
I hope you and Mrs PB have a great time and see lots to photograph that hopefully we shall benefit from when you post them on here ? No pressure then Lol
