This Nuthatch was high up in a tree (40-50 feet) next to a footpath we walk along. It appeared to be feeding either on lichen or something in the lichen.

It's found something to eat

Further along branch, it appears to be looking for something to eat.

  • From mild wet to freezing cold. A pleasant change to walk in glorious sunshine. Though birds remained under cover as much as possible. Heard lots, saw little.

    Getting a bit desperate for a photo opportunity, this little feller obliged.

    I'm depressed as it's soooo cold.

  • A short walk along the canal in Worcester - a grey heron in reflective mood, a plump song thrush and then, delightfully, a kingfisher who sat for a while, wondering whether to break the ice on the surface of the water
