Thought I would kick this years thread off with the beautiful Peacock spotted today - I have had quite a few moths around the front door but not deployed the lights recently

And breath.......
Our fabulous fire service did an excellent job and really limited the damage. they managed to stop it from jumping the foot paths and also from taking the pines at the top of the bluff. The Kestrels are usually on the other side of the headland. I didn't look too closely for bodies
Given how far the fire could be seen from and how high the flames were I was expecting a lot worse,
Very lucky.
I guess given the dry conditions, as with a small controlled garden fire, they often give off a lot of smoke. I take my hat off to our blue light services, particularly at this time of year and the arrogance of many folk with respect, or lack of, to the countryside.
Managed to snap this little one today. :-)
I was happy to see this little Green Veined White today, first time for me
the lavender was full of bees so it didn't stay still long, and I couldn't get it with wings open.
Lot to learn

Well done Gaynor. Always a treat to see something new. Number 3 is a cracker. Great detail in the eye ...
