Time to start this year's thread of odds and sods (Last year's Odds & Sods HERE)
Today a large flock of 40 or so Redwings descended on the fields around our local parkland and although they were pretty skittish and distant I hard cropped a few pics for you ....
and a blue tit landed nearby !

First glimpse of this years valley kestrel chicks. Not great light and I left the camera zoomed in too much but less of the excuses. The last couple of years started with 5 and 3 fledged. Definitely 3 in there but hard to tell exactly how many.

lovely to see the Kestrel Chicks Bob, thanks.
One from our first visit in 18 months to Woolston Eyes .....,a ringed Reed Warbler
this Canada Goose had a good brood of offspring so was keeping careful watch on them
Thanks Wendy. A quick glimpse of them yesterday as I passed through the field. Growing up fast, even from last week. Starting to lose the white feathers and totally oblivious to me, just waiting for the parents to come back with food. Quite nice that they are close to a footpath as they are used to the occasional dog walkers, amazes me no one notices them up there.
Plus one of the valley owls en route and fallow and red deer from Thursday. Red deer on the moorland as I walked over to Chatsworth to see the fallows. Prefer the moorland but still nice to see the fallow, especially when they are away at the edge of the estate. I think there is still the white fallow up with the reds on the moor but yet to see it.

I think so many people walk without listening - I see lots of people out walking and they are either stomping along not noticing their surroundings or are wired for sound or, if in company, gassing 19 to the dozen . I always try to have my 'listening ears' on as my late husband used to say to the girls. It's hard to miss food begging calls

A bit better clip this week of the kestrel chicks in the valley from each of the 3 rocks I put down in the field before they started nesting.
