Swift on the wing; swift on the camera....

I've been trying for a long time to get a half decent photo of a locally swift in flight, and I finally almost, made the grade, at the cost of a lot of photos, a lot of notes on the camera settings etc etc....

All this taking in to account, the scene is constantly changing, so no benchmarks available, cloud, no cloud, brilliant sun, just sun, etc etc.....

All I can say, damned good job its digital, and not film, I'd be beyond bankrupt.

So here is the latest efforts..

Uncropped and probably the closest they came, to give you an idea of perspective. The lens used was the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary.

The following are all cropped.

  • Thank you all.

PB, I too would have expelled many rolls of film, esp as most rolls were 36 exposures max, though it was possible to get 38-40 if you were very careful loading the film and winding on for the first shot!

Imagine the heartache having to manually wind on after each shot, if you didn't have motorised winding!

Of course, there was professional film around (probably still is), with many more exposures, but at a cost......
