Just starting off with a link to last years thread here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/201672/dazzling-damsels-and-dragons-2019#pifragment-4285=1
About a week ago the large Red Damsels arrived
& then yesterday caught a glimpse of a Broad Bodied Chaser
it then flew off across a field.
Happy hunting & stay safe all.
Best wishes

Lot to learn
Unknown said:Lovely shot Hazel. An Azure I take it with a coenagrion spur. I'm just showing off now to show that I haven' t forgotten everything. LOL
Yes I've opted for puella, which is a Azure Damselfly. I think we've got the same book, but even after quite a few years identifying them I still spend ages thumbing the pages & checking the markings.
Gaynor : Yes they are lovely & from today I can stand & admire them rather than rattle off home to get back within the hour limit. We cut it fine a few times & knowing our luck the only gendarme seen would be the day we were 5 minutes late.

Lucky to see damsels and dragonflies in great profusion at Thursley Common today. The top one is a common blue damselfly, if anyone can identify the bottom one please let me know!
More large reds making more large redsGarden pond has been a lockdown project and barely a week after filling it the first damselfly was spottedToday 5 in total seen - 2 pairs and one unlucky single male
