Kicking off this new thread with pics from my pond tonight ... very mild & light rain, actually went out to put fresh food & water out for Hoggies as I'd read that it was mild enough for them to come out of hibernation ... imagine my surprise to discover these critters

Didn't have any females last year!
Saw some pics of spawn on FB last night at Lennon Legacy Project on the edge of Dartmoor!

Lol PB, I'm currently still catching up with breakfast of wholemeal bread and a dollop of blackcurrant conserve - nom, nom ! We really need to arrange a special forumates meet up with afternoon tea at one of the reserve cafe's once we can safely do so...………….. maybe 2025 if we're lucky.
post edit: I realise this is going off topic regarding amphibians but I could add we could have "toad in the hole" for lunch lol
One I omitted last week, common frog having a wander among he forest of grass, until it heard the camera click, and then straight back in to the pond, splodoosh!

Not the prettiest pond critters ... here with their friends the Mozzie larvae ... how dare the froglets leave before eating them all up!! lol
