Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1
& Mostly Moths https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/198118/mostly-moths-2019/1273216#pifragment-4285=1
To start us off here are a few from the recent traps & wine rope,

Confirmed as Red Admiral so the ugly one will transform into a beauty when it emerges from it's pupa!
Lot to learn
Superb photos folks, and nice to catch up.
A large white that paid a visit to the new lavender just over a week ago, and was hanging around on the same flower head for quite a while, so the pickings must have been good.

My latest incumbent courtesy of my Niece who found it near her Pellitory-of-the-wall ... not the famous Bloxworth Snout larva though ... think it's a Red Admiral one, they also inhabit the aforementioned herb plus common Nettle
The 'ugly one' has formed a beautiful pupa overnight ... on it's way to transformation!
Another newbie to feed but likely not for long as this Toadflax Brocade caterpillar already at pupation length of 35mm, had one before & the moth is very pretty
Not very common around here Wendy, only had the caterpillar once & the adult once. Both lovely. We've been hunting Large blues in areas of ear-marked for possible protection. I think we need protection from all the brambles & other stuff & it's all on a slope so very hard going.
Also got lots of Lulworth Skippers
a worn Pea-blue
& a few moths, an Isle of Wight wave
a Bright Wave
& finally a butterfly from around the corner, a Geranium blue
Good to see the sun again!
