Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1
& Mostly Moths https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/198118/mostly-moths-2019/1273216#pifragment-4285=1
To start us off here are a few from the recent traps & wine rope,

Gotta be a gag there somewhere!!
Nice shot Nige :o)
Was just reading through updates from one of our local nature reserves and it appears they had a sighting of a rarer type moth which was a Red-tipped Clearwing and they have a photo of it too. Hope THIS LINK works so you can see this rarity. Looks so pretty with that see through wing and the red colouring. Wonder how often they are seen generally.

Perhaps "mothists" wouldn't have the same potential for confusion as "moth-ers"
Some photos from the last sunny day at Pennington, when several Meadow Browns were about
The Five-spot Burnets (Narrow-bordered) were getting friendly
Just to cause confusion, there were also Six-spots out
The good weather in early spring when the Peacocks emerged is paying dividends with gazillions of caterpillars munching through the nettles and some are already huge
I've been seeing loads of Cinnabar moths this year, too, but these are my first little Wolves supporters
Good to see the Burnets start to emerge Nige....
Not lots about today on the flutter front but did find a pristine Gatekeeper
have to make do with iPhone photo as I managed to leave both my cameras at home
