Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1
& Mostly Moths https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/198118/mostly-moths-2019/1273216#pifragment-4285=1
To start us off here are a few from the recent traps & wine rope,
this is a lovely Satelite from the 8th january
Best wishes

You could start to restock by sending for stock in the form of caterpillars from Worldwide butterflies, raise at home then set emerged butterflies free!
Lot to learn

I expect you'd need a file 6 inches deep, full of signed documents to get it off the ground LOL.
I'm not seeing many butterflies settling so far, although I did get this Peacock sunbathing on a boulder a few days ago

I got a female orange-tip today...on the grass for a change
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Some lovely pics there folks. On the walk this morning I saw male and female orange tips, and also a cornflower blue butterfly (don't know make but was similar size to the orange tip), but not one landed :o( However, lurking in the grasses, I saw this ickle beastie... don't know if it should be in this thread, or the insect one?
I finally wrestled an Orange Tip to the ground and forced it to pose for a photo
