Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1

I have my first proper butterfly pic for 2020, a peacock having a short rest in the sun.
Later on in the day, a speckled wood had a nibble around on the grass before flying off....

I managed to get my new trap out over the weekend - helps to make up for the fact that Butterfly surveying has been suspended for the time being.

Wendy,
I got myself a special little toy after going for a walk with out local bat group last year. So I get to see in glorious Technicolor
It works on the iPhone and iPad. I am lucky enough to have several different types of bat hunt over the garden. A few years back I reported having an unusually large bat in the garden which lead to the discovery of a tiny colony of Serotine, which were previously un-recorder.
Ooooh, smart gear! Only heard common & soprano Pipistrelle here, have lots of sightings though especially when flying very low overhead, had a couple last year fly straight towards me ... I flinched first! Lol
They were very fond of my moth trap!
My first EVER butterfly pics from in the garden today.....
Peacock stops for a rest on the only bald patch of grass!
And this Small tortoiseshell looking a bit tatty...they seem to like the baldy patch of grass!
