Starting with a first for me ... Sparrowhawk in neighbour's garden here in quarry, only ever seen a seemingly lost youngster many years ago!
Grabbed ID vid footage through d/glazed door, then battery died & by time I'd replaced it to go outside for better res a delivery driver stopped next door & frightened the bird off!! grrrrrr
Hope it's a one-off for the sake of my Spadger horde!

That is a special garden tick!! I've only managed to see parts of them hidden away in the undergrowth

It was just a generalisation (although GB may be right about the upright posture). Robins are extremely territorial and normally will not tolerate intruders on their patch, regardless of time of year, so one is probably facing up to the other and saying "go away, this is my spot" and if that doesn't resolve it there will be a chase or even a full-on scrap. Despite their popular image they are one of the most belligerent garden species.

Approx 2 inches long ... mouse or baby rat??
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

First impression on overall appearance for me is rat. I think the tail looks hairless which also suggests rat.
Well, it's definitely not a Wood Mouse. After that, I must admit, I'm of divided opinion even amongst myself! It could be a House Mouse even if my first impression says rat.
