Beautiful Butterflies 2019

Beautiful capture Nige, a couple here today but no pics unfortunately!

They certainly are beginning to flutter.

Yesterday saw a Beautiful bright primrose/yellow in flight and green when closed,when it taking nectar from primroses.It flew all around the Parkland where granddaughter was playing.But sensed movement from us, so we could not photo Doh!!

I'd agree, a Brimstone is more likely. They are residents and can be seen flying very early in the year (I saw one today, too) whereas Clouded Yellows don't over-winter well in this country and those seen tend to be migrants from S. Europe and they are much rarer.

Great shots of the Small Tortoiseshell, it's very rare around here, I haven't seen one for at least 5 years apart from holidays.

That is a lovely shot of the Small Tortie, Alan. Despite several days of warm sunshine I still haven't seen any butterflies although several of my acquaintances have.

No lovely butterflies yet & weather changed to 'orrible for a while ... did see this basking on Buddleia when it was sunny, my first this year!
