3 days of sunshine & Butterflies galore. Well, not really but we did see 3 Brimstones a Red Admiral & a Peacock. I did get a shot of the Brimstone flying, but I think trying to photograph Butterflies in flight is one of the first signs of madness. Anyway, it's high time I started this thread.

Hazel in Southwest France
Good to see plenty of butterflies still around; these were at Woolston Eyes NR this morning
Dozens of Speckled Woods around
Still quite a few Painted Ladies too although this was somewhat tattier than previous ones I saw
The three Small Tortoiseshells I saw were pristine but unfortunately too high to get a decent photograph angle
then I found one on the grass ………… still not the best angle but at least you can see it better !
and lastly Green-veined White (thanks to Hazel, Wendy, Tony)

Oh crikey, no pressure then.
Having looked at my book I think you and Wendy are probably right. It looks like a summer generation male Green-veined White. Tricky one.

Out for a tramp (don't worry, he got away!) over the fields and it was pretty much bird free but did spot....
Painted Lady
Red Admiral
Then 2 that I don't know, but may or may not be moths..
And some very pretty, teeeeeeeny weeeeeeny flowers (Mrs PB spotted the orangey red one)
and also very pretty, Field Bindweed
Veronica filliformis is the blue one ( according to google) orangey red one is Scarlet Pimpernel
Butterfly is Large White
OOOOOooohhhh… I forgot I was in butterfly thread when I posted the flowers!! Sorry!
Thanks for the ID's Wendy.... I knew you were better than my funky phone
At Lodmore (Weymouth today)
Slightly tatty Painted Lady
An not tatty speckled wood (I guess as it's speckled and wood coloured!)
And, right out on a limb here, as it's white with what looks like green veins... a Green Veined White?
