Well here goes, for better or worse, another year of moths. The old thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/196070/mostly-moths-2018/1221500#1221500
To start us off a couple of silly ones that came to greet the first trap of the year on the night of the 1st to 2nd january. It was around 6-7°C all night & frosts ever since so I gave it a go.
A Double-striped Pug

& White Speck
Nothing earth-shattering, but a start!
Best wishes

Hi, moth to ID please. Found on a fence panel close to an old rose - the leaves have been nibbled but not sure if it has emerged from there
No bigger than 1 inch across
Wriggly Cinnabary thingies....
My bird photos HERE
Wriggly Death's-head HM thingies! Lol
10 in this pot ... mucky pups!!
Now all refreshed with only five put back ... other five are going to a good home as won't have enough left on my privet to feed them allQ
Doubtless will look just as mucky & stripped bare tomorrow!
A surprise visitor to my kitchen yesterday ...
Popped this beautiful female Oak Eggar in butterfly house in case she was in process of laying eggs ... my reward was 7 eggs overnight!
Always remind me of teeny-weeny bird's eggs!
I shall hope for successful hatch ... will let female fly free when current rain has passed!

I took a photo of these a couple of years ago & framed it with "Pre-season training" as it's title. Why? I gave it to a friend who is a Wolves fan! LOL
Wendy : Well done on the Oak Eggar eggs, they'll keep you busy too.
