Better late than never, I'm just starting this off with this little beetle that came in from the cold recently, I don't know what it is yet
I think it may have been injured when I scraped it off my neck!!
THIS is a link to old thread.
Best wishes

I was lucky that the movement caught my eye otherwise it could have got trodden on. In fact it was such an odd shape that I thought I had at first. Once on the flowers every time I took my eye off it, I had to really look hard to spot it again.
Thanks for your comments, I was dead chuffed.
I did fish these weird looking cases out of my neighbour's goldfish pond yesterday ... any ideas??
They are quite flat & gelatinous about 4cm long!

They look like caterpillars that fell in the water!!
That was my first thought too H but why would the outside skin remain like that, would have expected it to rot away? It must be made of sterner stuff than we know about!
Acouple of Butterflies on a walk yesterday, we had 2 Green Hairstreaks
the 2nd one looked a bit worn
& 2 brand new Southern White Admirals
they are such a gorgeous black/blue colour on top.
Stunning butterflies, Hazel, especially the Southern White Admiral.
I came across this grasshopper in Mallorca last week. I've no idea of the species.

Nice to see the Green Hairstreaks - I've only ever seen one once, many years ago on the edge of Exmoor.
