Lets face it Noisette, most women can't ;) I may join TJ in his challenge and see if I can find some toads to photograph!
I heard all that. I've had a look around but I can't find a toad. It's a bit cold and wet at the moment in the garden.
Join in MrsT, you'll probably find one before I do.
Is this becoming a reptile thread? I can post a few more pics if anyone is interested.

Lets not get toad away and keep it amphibs, we can always start an reptile thread.
Here are a few more toads Mrs T
Our local toads are now called Spiny toads (Bufo bufo spinosus) & not Common toad (Bufo bufo bufo) For those who are very keen THIS is the explication.
These are toadally brilliant! Thanks Hazel.
Ha Ha! You're just toadying up!
Still haven't found any local toads.
Sticking to amphibians I've been looking through some photos from a trip to Romania back in 2006. This was in a river in the Carpathians but I don't know what it is - any ideas?
Not sure after all these years whether this is the same critter but the photo was taken three minutes later so I suspect it is. Can't see much but the orange spotted belly might give a clue.
It looks like a yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata). It says in my book that when it is threatened it arches it's back & stands on it's back legs to show you its bright belly which is warning predators of it's TOXIC secretions!! I bet you wish you had gloves on!! I don't touch any toads without gloves as I think most have nasty secretions. Lovely photos though.
Thanks Hazel. I'll look it up. It wasn't me holding it.
