Volunteers' Thank You event - the birds and beasties!

Last Saturday I headed out to The Lodge for a long and eagerly awaited event aimed at thanking volunteers from the eastern region for their time and efforts.  The weather was grotty as I set out from the Suffolk coast but happily it was considerably better inland.  After being warmly welcomed we split into two groups and were led out on to the reserve.

I was keeping everything crossed for the appearance of a raven - to my joy one duly appeared:

It got better:

They were less than happy at the appearance of this magnificent raptor:

On our way back to HQ for lunch these two drew my attention - they appeared to be dancing around each other.  It was adorable to watch:

After lunch we headed out into the beautiful gardens.  I inexplicably found myself thinking about my favourite osprey:

I can't remember what this is but I thought it was lovely:

It was a really good day for buzzards:

Finally, a gorgeously colourful little beastie:

Right, I need to start going through the fungi now!
