Last Saturday I headed out to The Lodge for a long and eagerly awaited event aimed at thanking volunteers from the eastern region for their time and efforts. The weather was grotty as I set out from the Suffolk coast but happily it was considerably better inland. After being warmly welcomed we split into two groups and were led out on to the reserve.
I was keeping everything crossed for the appearance of a raven - to my joy one duly appeared:
It got better:
They were less than happy at the appearance of this magnificent raptor:
On our way back to HQ for lunch these two drew my attention - they appeared to be dancing around each other. It was adorable to watch:
After lunch we headed out into the beautiful gardens. I inexplicably found myself thinking about my favourite osprey:
I can't remember what this is but I thought it was lovely:
It was a really good day for buzzards:

Right, I need to start going through the fungi now!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
