Wheatear on the heath

Luckily I looked over the Sandy Ridge heath today while I was scouting about in the work compound. A male wheatear was hopping around on the grass , the first I have actually seen on the reserve.

We checked the dates and this appears to be the latest they have been seen here during spring, all of the previous records only went up to April.

A cuckoo was calling from the trees along the side of the Sandy ridge trail as well.

Glad I popped outside!
